Its reading is taken by means of a reading magnifier.Grade 1 and Grade 2 standard thermometers are checked by JJG161-94, JJG128-89 national standard, and the checing cycle is less than two years.

They are used as standard instrument to verify and calibrade grade 2 standard mercury thermometers with two kinds of subdivision: 0.05°c and 0.1°c .
