The Through-Material Touch System is designed to turn any non-metal flat surface into a touchable surface. Unlike traditional touch screens, it use distributed sensor nodes underneath the touch surface to detect finger/hand touch behavior. The touch surface can be made of glass, wood, acrylic, plastic, ceramic, cardboard…or an non-conductive materials you can think of. Instead of X-Y coordinates, it turns each touch into a user defined keyboard input, and can be used directly by user’s applicationprogram.
The systems consist of three parts: 15 independent Through-Material TouchSensors, one Central Control Unit and one Key Writer Tool.
The advantages of Through-Material Touch Technology over other traditional touch screens:*No driver required, as it is a HID device not like other touch screens request driver*Easy to install, just adhere at the back side of the touch material not like other touch screens need a frame to hold the sensor*No calibration required not like other touch screens need 3-9 points calibration*No more relies on the display, the cost is fixed no mater how large is your display, notlike other touch screens all depend on the size of the display*Large range of material can be used: glass, wood, acrylic, paper, leather, cloth
