Grifola frondosa (maitake)
Grifola frondosa also named polyporus frondosus, commonly called as chestnut mushroom, lotus flower mushroom, cloud gill fungus, and called Maitake in Japan. The fruit body is big or enormous, fleshy, has stipe and many branches. It has fan-shaped or spoon-shaped pileus which overlaps and becomes the clump in terminal. The diameter can be up to 40 to 60cm. The pileus diameter is 2-8cm, palm form, foliate or edge wavy, gray to light brown, the surface has thin fine hair, and hard after being dried and smooth after old. There are radial stripes, thin and involute on the edge. The context is white. The basidium is bar-shaped, 4 small stems, 20-26µm * 6-9µm. Spore is colorless, smooth, ovum round to the ellipse, 5-7.5µm * 3-3.5µm.
