2. Feature
Quick and easy
Operating in accordance with the instructions, users can complete the iron ion test independently without specialized training. 5 minutes is enough to complete the analysis of one water sample.
Accurate and reliable
The method equals to 1, 10-phenanthroline method (GB/T5750.6-2006). In the presence of appropriate buffer and reducing regents, low valence of iron ions react with 1, 10-phenanthroline to form a stable orange complex, the color depth is proportional to the concentration of iron ions.
3. Operation
1. Fill the tube with testing liquid to 15mL, add one pack of reagent I and sway, then add one pack of reagent II sway to dissolved, wait for 5 minutes
2. Compare the show color of the testing liquid with the color on the colorimetric chart, come out a result.
4. Background of development
Sources of iron
The mainly sources of iron pollution of water are wastewaters coming from many industries such as ore-dressing, smelting, mechanical processing, industrial plating, pickling. The iron has a variety of existing forms in water samples. It can exist in molecular solution in the form of simple hydrated ions, inorganic or organic complexes, which are either ferrous iron or ferric iron.
Significance of iron (total) test
Ferrous iron in water can be easily oxidized to ferric iron if the water samples exposes to air, therefore, a timely determination of the total iron concentration in water is meaningful.
Iron and its compounds are of low toxicity and micro-toxicity. A high iron content of water often causes a yellow color and iron smell to the water. If this kind of water used in industrials such as printing and dyeing, textile, paper and etc., the quality of the products will be affected by the macula formed on the products.
