Caprylohydroxamic acid(7377-03-9)
99%min
CAS NO.7377-03-9
synonym: Caprylohydroxamic acid; N-hydroxyoctanamide; Caprylhydroxamic Acid;7377-03-9
Molecular Formula:C8H17NO2
Molecular Weight:159.23
Antibacterial Property:Stronger inhibition to mould growth
Product Properties:Organic acid effect: It workes well when the PH value keeps neutral, which is an ideal orgnic acid.Chelating effect: CHA has a strong chelating power to Fe2+ and Fe3+. The limitation of iron ion will influence the growth of Mould; Iron ion is crucial to the growth of microorganism. Microorganisim will release siderophores, and capture Fe3+ and make it changed into Fe3+; CHA has a stronger stability in chelating Fe3+, so that it could effectively prevent mould from combination with iron ion.Short Chain Surfactant: It has the best length of carbon chain to degrade the cell structure just as octylene glycol. As a kind of organic acid, it exists as undissociatedmolecule in organisim.CHA is a kind of organic acid that keeps in a non-ionization state when the PH varies from acidity to neutral..CHA could strongly prevent the growth of mould. In a test it shows that the minimum antibacterial density is 0.078%CHA has a long history served as a king of medical treatment in both human and animals. Its toxicology has been widely studied. It could be used as a replacement for traditional preservative in cosmetics. It still has a highly effective anti-bacterial capability in neutral environment. However when under the same circumstances, the others will be weakened.
Compatibility : CHA is compatible with most of the agents for cosmetics. In a test it shows that its capacity for anti-bacterial can not be influenced by surfactants, protein or some other additions in cosmetics; Yet it did have chemical reaction with Fe3+ in clay from bentonite, ganister sand and so on. More Fe3+ was found, the darker the color will be. Therefore EDTA-2NA is suggested to be added in the formula.
Application: caprylhydroxamic acid may be used in emulsion. Anhydrous and surfactant systems. These include creams, lotions, shower gels and make-up. It may be added to the water phase , at ambient or hot temperatures, or may be added post-emulsidication of O/W emulsions.
we do recommend avoiding lengthy exposure to elevated temperatures: for example, maximum two hours at 90°C,or maximum six hours at 60°C.
