What is membrane switch? |
A membrane switch is a momentary electrical on/off switch for activating and de-activating a
circuit. Whereas a mechanical switch is usually made of copper and plastic parts, a
membrane switch circuit is printed on a heat-stabilized polyester or Indium tin oxide (ITO)using
a copper-silver- or graphite/silver ink to lend conductivity.

What types of Membrane Switches are available? |
Tactile membrane switch: Tactile membrane switch including metal dome membrane switch and poly dome membrane switch. |
Flat type membrane switch: The graphic overlay part of this type of membrane switch is non-tactile. There is no embossing effect on it. |
Backlighting membrane switch: The option is using Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) to back light. However, LEDs create bright spots and are not suitable for overall back lighting of a panel, but rather as indicator lights. LEDs can either be surface- mounted to the circuit layer or be placed on a separate LED layer |
