electrodeless light
Principle
ZK induction lighting system was developed specifically for applications, where relamping is
associated withextremely high levels of complexity and cost. These include, for example, tunnel
lighting or the lighting in industrial buildings.
The extremely long system lifetime of 60,000 hours (failure rate < 12 percent) provides approx. seven
years' worth of permanent lighting. That is some five times longer than conventional fluorescent lamps.
The way it works: the discharge required to produce light does not occur - as with conventional
fluorescent lamps - between two electrodes but without electrodes in a closed "ring" with no
beginning or end. The energy is injected from outside via two ferrite rings, using magnetic fields.
Thus the lamp contains no wear-andtear parts. The unique ZK principle furthermore produces
quantities of light, which conventional fluorescent lamps cannot match.
