 It needs an EL Inverter/Converter/Driver (power supply) to run it. These inverters start with 3Volts (for a 2 *AA battery inverter), 5V Volts, 12Volts or 110~240Volts power supply and then transfer the voltage around 100Volts and frenquency around 1500HZ that makes the Electro-Luminescent Phosphor in the wire glow brightly.
