Ceramic insulators/Electrical
Most oxide ceramics have excellent properties with regards to electrical insulation, possess very low loss factors and very high mechanical strength. Stability at elevated temperatures is also an important feature of these dense materials. Some components may require glazing to prevent moisture adhesion or absorption, as well as preventing dust collection on the surface.
Recommended materialsAlumina : 92% High voltage insulators, general applications.
Alumina : 99 %Feed-throughs for high temperature and corrosive environments.
ZirconiaVery high frequency and high voltage applications, where mechanical strength and resistance to electrically induced stresses are required.
Electrical Porcelain / SteatiteLow and medium voltage insulating applications.
