Tempered Glass is made of common plate glass which is well treated by special methods, resulting in increasing to a large degree its intensity, capability of anti-impact and quick heat/cold resisting. When it is broken, the whole glass turns to small granules, which can hardly hurt people, hence, tempered glass is a kind of security glass and is also called strengthened glass.
Tempered glass is a type of safety glass regularly used in applications in which standard glass could pose a potential danger. Tempered glass is four to five times stronger than standard glass and does not break into sharp large pieces when it breaks. Tempered glass is manufactured through a process of extreme heating and rapid cooling, making it harder than normal glass.
The brittle nature of tempered glass causes it to shatter into small oval-shaped pebbles when broken. This eliminates the danger of sharp edges. Due to this property, along with its strength, tempered glass is often referred to as safety glass. The thermal process that cures tempered glass also makes it heat resistant. Tempered glass can be used in any situation where there is a danger of the glass breaking due to impact or heat
