Physical and chemical properties:
Berberine is a kind of quartermary ammonium alkaloids. Melting point: 145°C. Soluble in water, hardly soluble in benzene, diethyl ether, chloroform. Its salt slightly soluble in water, for example: hydrochloride is 1:500, sulfate is 1:30.
Toxicity: slight toxicity. intraperitoneal injection LD5024.3mg/kg. No accumulation when always application.
Mode of action:
Botanic fungicide Berberine 0.5% AS is a kind of poison substance which acts on cell membrane. It hurts cell membrane, leads to change the component of cell, but it don’t influence the synthesis of nucleic acid, increasing decomposable process of protein, as well as change the component of fatty acid.
Berberine has the function of controlling/ cure. It exerts its function mainly by improving the ability of plant immunity, and has been widely used on virus diseases on many crops, like green pepper, tomato etc.. It is of high efficacy against tomato early blight, strawberry grey mold, white powdery mildew, grape black blain disease etc. and can promote plant growth.
