Brown Aluminum Oxide produced from bauxite fused and reduced(to remove Fe2O3,SiO2 and TiO2 at very high temperature in an electrical furnace,then cooled,crushed and graded into various size fractions.
It is hard and tough material,used in manufacturing of grinding wheels(both vitrified and resin bonded)and coated products.
There grains are also used for shot blasting and polishing media.
Refractory grade BFA is used as a raw material in the manufacture of high alumina refractory.
