MTBE is an excellent octane-number gasoline additives and antiknock which can be mixed and dissolved with gasoline at any ratios. It has extremely low water solubility. No turbidity generates while compounding in which MTBE is superior to the octane-number modifiers like methanol and ethanol. And MTBE possesses favorable chemical stability, physical stability and low toxicity, convenient for storage and transportation. MTBE can be produced into high-purity isobutene after cracking.
